Guess this means I'm going to write actual information about myself here for once.
I have a son. He was born March 29, 2006, and being a mother is just about the best thing in the world. Even better than ice cream. Even better than sex flavoured ice cream.
I'm a published author. I wrote a couple of pieces for a company called White Wolf publishing, in the roleplaying genre. I'd like to be published for more than that, eventually.
I've taught or TA'd bellydancing (in workshops, faires and in my home), voice & drama (at a local theatre), and jewellery (at a local college). I've managed a small bricks-n-mortar gothic resale clothing nook. I still sell things online from time to time.
I went to school for jewellery and metalwork, and now work out of my home doing custom work and whatever happens to strike my fancy. My website business is not functional yet, but watch the space for updated pics and designs.
I was a vocalist in a Canadian gothic band for a short time, and I'd like to be in one again (though for the moment I am teaching myself guitar). I play piano -- badly; clarinet -- slightly less badly; bass -- acceptably, though I can't sing and play; and I love to drum. Singing is my passion, though; I was classically trained but I've managed to forget the rules and learn how to sing other things as well. Singing makes me feel light inside, and my toes curl up with joy.
I DJ sometimes, under the name DJ Zanzi. Mostly goth/industrial, though sometimes I creep into psychobilly, metal, d&b, triphop, trance and hard techno. I had a radio show at CFRC radio, the station run out of Queen's University here in Kingston.

I'm a stage performer at heart. Theatre, musical theatre, music, period. I usually manage to be in at least one show of some kind per year. It keeps my appetite up without gorging. I don't tend to like the theatre culture, but I like the art and craft and drama and magic of the performing itself. I hate being in the spotlight but I love the challenge that comes with being there. |
